Draw Sheets in Bulk for Hospitals and Care Homes
A draw sheet is a smaller sheet laid across the middle of the bed, over the bottom sheet. Staff can then change the piece a patient lies on without stripping the whole bed.
We weave them plain and hem them, in the fabric, size and colour you name, for hospitals, care homes and their laundries.

What is decided on a draw sheet before we quote?
You choose
Every entry in the table, one line at a time. We have no house pattern for this sheet.
We supply one plain woven cloth, cut to your figures and hemmed. Fabric and construction work as on any sheet we weave, so the flat sheet page sets out what each blend and count gives you. Your brief is the only pattern we work to (how that works).
| Fabric | 100% cotton, or polycotton in 50/50, 60/40, 40/60, 65/35 or 80/20. Polyester microfibre where you ask for it |
|---|---|
| Thread count | T130, T144, T180, T200, T250, T300 or T400, and above on request |
| Weave | Percale, sateen, satin stripe or dobby |
| Colour | White, or one solid shade matched to the Pantone reference you send |
| Finished size | Cut to the width and the length you measure on your beds |
| Hem | Plain or mitred, double stitched, stated by you on the line |
| Label and packing | Your own label; poly bag, bundle or carton |
How is a draw sheet measured?
Across the bed, not from a bed name. Two figures build the line.
The first is the mattress width, plus the length you want hanging at each side to tuck under. The second is the band the sheet covers down the bed, which follows where a patient's shoulders and hips sit.
The tuck is the trade off. A long tuck gives staff more to grip and holds the sheet flatter. It also puts more cloth through every wash. A short tuck is lighter to handle and pulls free sooner. Beds of two widths mean two lines.
Which fabric suits the way the sheets are laundered?
The one that matches your process. Tell us how the linen is washed, dried and finished.
Cotton draw sheets feel softer against a patient and take up more moisture. A larger polyester share dries faster and holds its shape under hard handling. It feels less soft. The polycotton blends sit between the two, and the blend number on your line sets the balance.
How do staff tell the draw sheet from the sheet under it?
By the shade. We weave hospital draw sheets in white, or in one solid colour matched to the Pantone reference on your line.
A draw sheet in a shade of its own shows a nurse at a glance which piece lifts out. Two shades on a bed means two pools of stock. So keep to as few colours as the site needs.
How many of these does each bed need?
More than the number of beds. Count them apart from your bed sheets. A draw sheet is changed on its own, so it leaves the bed more often than the sheet beneath it.
Count the pieces in four places at once: on the beds, in the wash, in transit, and on the shelf as the buffer. With a contract laundry, ask how long a piece is away from the ward.
What about sheets with a satin panel or handles?
They are a different product. Settle this point before you ask for a price.
The trade also uses the name for an assembly. That is a sheet with a satin panel stitched across the middle, so a patient can be moved along it. It sometimes carries handles or locking loops at the sides.
We do not quote that sheet. Ours is one cloth, cut to your figures and hemmed, with nothing stitched into the body of it. If your specification calls for a panel, handles or loops, say so at the enquiry, because we are not quoting against it.
Who orders bulk draw sheets?
Buyers who count by bed, and who change the middle of a bed more often than the whole of it.
- Hospital and clinic buyers, working from the ward bed list.
- Care home and nursing home groups, where a resident is moved in bed by one or two carers.
- Healthcare laundries and medical distributors, acting as the draw sheet supplier for the sites behind them.
What else goes on the same order?
Whatever sits above and below it. A draw sheet lies between the flat sheet and the fitted sheet. The healthcare linen and bed linen categories list the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a draw sheet the same as a slide sheet?
No. A slide sheet is a separate product. It is made from a slippery synthetic fabric, and staff use it to move a patient. A draw sheet is a plain woven sheet laid across the bed, so the piece under the patient can be changed on its own. We make the woven draw sheet.
Can a draw sheet match the ward sheets we already buy?
Yes, in most cases. Post us a piece of what you hold now. We read the fabric, the construction and the shade off the cloth itself. With nothing to read, your written line has to carry those entries.
How are the edges finished?
To the hem you name on the line, plain or mitred, double stitched. Staff grip, pull and tuck a draw sheet every time they change it, so the hem takes that handling.
Can wholesale draw sheets in two sizes and two colours go on one order?
Yes. Every combination of size, fabric and shade becomes its own line on one specification. Tell us how the stock is split on arrival, and we pack it that way.
Send us four things: the mattress widths, the tuck at each side, your wash process and the shade each department needs. We weave, cut and hem in one factory, so you are quoting the draw sheet manufacturer. The lines then come back priced.
