Bed Linen
Bulk Comforters and Duvets for Hotels, Hospitals and Care Homes
A comforter or duvet is the filled layer on the bed. We quilt hollow fibre polyester wadding between two panels of shell fabric. A washable cover then goes over it.
You choose the shell, the quilting, the finished size and how warm the bedding has to be. We quote the comforter on its own, because the cover is a separate product.

What do you tell us for a comforter or duvet?
You choose
Four things: the shell, the quilting that holds the filling, the finished size, and how much filling goes inside.
The shell uses the same fabric, thread count and weave list as your sheets and covers. So one cloth reference can carry the whole bed. The filling is hollow fibre polyester wadding on every line. Anything the table leaves out is made to your specification.
We keep your agreed spec on our own file. Commercial duvets reordered a year later are built to the same measurements. Tell us the standard or test report your market needs, and we arrange it with your order.
| Finished size | Built to the width and length you send, under any market name |
|---|---|
| Filling | Hollow fibre polyester wadding, also called microfibre filling |
| Warmth | Set by the filling weight agreed on your order |
| Quilting | Box, diamond, channel or baffle box |
| Shell fabric | 100% cotton; polycotton 50/50, 60/40, 40/60, 65/35 or 80/20; 100% polyester microfiber |
| Shell thread count | T130, T144, T180, T200, T250, T300 or T400, and higher on request |
| Shell weave | Percale (plain), sateen, satin stripe in 1, 2 or 3 cm, or dobby |
| Colour | White, or a solid shade matched to your Pantone reference |
| Label and packing | Your own label; poly bag, bundle or carton |
Which shell fabric should the comforter be made in?
Any fabric on the bed linen list. Choose by how the comforter is handled, not by how it looks.
The choices are 100% cotton, polycotton in five blends, or polyester microfibre. Thread counts and weaves are set out in the table. The shell holds the hollow fibre wadding inside the quilted compartments.
The comforter stays inside a cover, so the room never sees it. Send the shell you want on the line. Or send the cover line with it, and we quote the two together.
Which quilting pattern should the filling sit in?
Choose box, diamond, channel or baffle box quilting. We stitch all four. The pattern decides how far the wadding can travel in service.
Box and diamond make the smallest compartments. Channel makes long runs. Baffle box stands a fabric wall between the two panels. It gives more depth than the patterns stitched flat.
Choose by how the bed is made up and how your laundry folds it. Name the pattern on the line, or send one you already hold and we read it from that.
How is warmth decided, and what does tog mean?
By the filling weight written on your order. We agree that weight line by line. So this page lists no weight.
Buyers often ask for a tog instead. We do not quote a tog number. A tog rating belongs to a tested construction, not to a product list.
Tell us whether the rooms are heated all year. Tell us if you want a lighter line for summer stock, and whether one standard covers the building. We set the filling weight against those answers and keep it with your spec.
What is the filled bedding called in each market?
The word changes with the market. The spec does not.
It is a comforter in the United States and Canada. In the United Kingdom it is a duvet, so the line reads hotel duvets. In Australia and New Zealand it is a doona or a quilt. Some stock lists keep the filled piece apart from its cover and call it a hotel duvet inner. Send the word your own stock list uses. We quote against the measurements on the line. Your comforter supplier and your duvet supplier are then the same factory.
Who orders comforters and duvets in bulk?
Buyers replacing the filled stock behind covers already in rotation. The quantity follows the bed count. So it rarely matches the cover line on the same order.
- Hotel groups ordering hotel comforters to one warmth standard, with a lighter line held for summer stock.
- Hospitals and care homes, ordering hospital duvets in white or one solid shade per floor and keeping that spec for reorders.
- Commercial laundries, buying wholesale duvets for hire contracts against the bed counts in them.
- Supermarket and retail buyers, taking wholesale comforters bagged and choosing the packing as carefully as the filling.
What goes on the order with the comforter?
The cover, first of all. We quote the comforter without one. An order for wholesale comforter sets means the filled piece plus its cover. Duvet covers are a separate line, cut to the size quoted here.
Fitted sheets, flat sheets and pillow covers can carry the same cloth and Pantone reference. The rest of the bed linen range is quoted line by line.

Frequently Asked Questions
What tog are your duvets?
We do not quote a tog figure. Warmth comes from the filling weight written on your order. Tell us how warm the bedding has to be. We then set that weight, record it and repeat it on every reorder.
How many filled pieces should we order per bed?
That depends on how many you keep out of service while others are washed. That number is yours to set. Send the bed count for each type with the spare ratio you work to. We quote each line to that total.
Can the comforter and its cover go on one order?
Yes, as two lines on one quotation. Give the width and length once. Both lines are then built to it, so the comforter and its cover come from the same measurements.
Can one order carry more than one size or warmth?
Yes. Each line has its own finished size, shell, quilting and filling weight. So suites, care home duvets and summer stock can run different standards on one quotation.
Send the finished size of each comforter, the shell it should be made in and how warm you want the bedding. You are dealing with the comforter manufacturer and the duvet manufacturer, not a trading desk. We price each line against those three choices.
